The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) recently released its U.S. Pet Ownership & Demographics Sourcebook, revealing which states have the largest number of pet owners and which have the fewest.
Vermont, the home of 800response, ranked top in several pet-owning categories!
– 70.8% of Vermont households owned a pet.
– 49.5% of Vermonters owned a cat.
So, we did a quick poll in the office and found that of our employees:
– 54% of the people who work here own at least one pet, most have more than one, with a total of 83 pets among us.
– 2 frogs; 16 cats; 13 dogs; 33 fish; 1 chinchilla; 3 snakes; 2 horses; 1 turtle; 1 lizard; 11 chickens.
The most recent AVMA survey was conducted in 2012 but based on December 31, 2011 numbers.
